Adelson is a mega donor for the Republican Party in the U.S. He started newspapers sales business at the age of 12. He was later engaged in the sale of trade magazines. In 1975, Sheldon established Interface Group. He later started a subsidiary – COMDEX Trade shows in the year 1979. His businesses include conventions, hotels and casinos that span across Singapore, the U.S., Macau and the Middle East. He amassed huge wealth from casinos. He is currently the chief executive officer of Sands China, which is engaged in developing resorts.

Sheldon Gary Adelson (pronounced /ˈædəlsən/; August 4, 1933 – January 11, 2021) was an American business magnate, investor, and philanthropist. He was the founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Las Vegas Sands Corporation, which owns the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.
Adelson also owned the The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino and the Sands Expo and Convention Center. He also owned the Israeli daily newspaper Israel Hayom and the American daily newspaper Las Vegas Review-Journal.[2]
He was a member of the Republican Party, and made the largest single donation ever to an incoming president's inauguration when he gave the Donald Trump inaugural committee five million dollars.[3]
In 2001, Adelson was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy.[4] In February 2019, he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.[5] Adelson died at his home in Malibu, California from the disease on January 11, 2021, at age 87.[6]
